trouble with backtest on previously saved strategy

still on a steep NT learning curve.

when I open and load a previously saved strategy the settings tab indicates that everything was properly saved. however when I run a back test nothing works as expected [ie] wrong strategy, wrong settings, etc etc.

I will appreciate any thoughts or suggestions regarding this.

    Hello joemiller,

    Thank you for your post.

Does this occur with the SampleMaCrossOver or just your custom Strategy?

When setting your custom Strategy are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

I look forward to your response.

solved...but now a new 'saved strategy' problem

      Thanks, Patrick

Experimentation led to a solution of my original problem “trouble with backtest on previously saved strategy”. However I have a new “saved strategy” problem [ie] I can’t navigate to load "strategy2" so I can run it.
I saved “Strategy1” as “Strategy2”. The save was apparently successful because it is in the NT ‘bin/custom/strategy folder along with "Strategy1" as a Word document, and when I open the Word document it looks ok to me. I have unsuccessfully tried various approaches and looked for help in the Users Guide and elsewhere.
Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue will be much appreciated.

        Hello joemiller,

        Thank you for your response.

The file must be a .CS file and not a .DOC or .DOCX file. Please change the file type to the correct .CS type and then recompile your code in NinjaTrader.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

upon closer inspection both strategy1 and strategy2 are Word files, type cs. thank goodness, because NT did all the saving and I wouldn't have had the foggiest notion what to do had they been otherwise.

            Hello joemiller,

            Thank you for your response.

Please go to the NinjaTrader Control Center > Tools > Edit NinjaScript > Indicator > select any indicator > OK > press F5 when the NinjaScript Editor opens. If compiled without errors you should see the Strategy in NinjaTrader.

Please let me know if you receive errors after compiling.

it worked Patrick. I will record the procedure you provided in my NT notes. I'm surprised it is so Mickey Mouse because NT procedures I have used so far are much more straight forward and elegant, In any event, many thanks for you're almost instantaneous and useful responses.
