Ninja with IB displaying bid price instead of last/midpoint (on FX charts)

    Hi guys,

Ninja is displaying/receiving the bid price from IB (on FX charts). I would like it to display the last or the midpoint. Is that possible?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

Which instrument are you testing with?

Please right click in the chart and select 'Data Series' - which 'Price Based on' setting is used?

      Hi Kyle,

      Thanks for your quick reply.

      I'm testing the $NZDUSD.

Very strange, the 'price based on' is set on last.

      Any more ideas?

      Thanks

      Sandor

        Hello Sandor,

Yes, unfortunately this is as expected. NinjaTrader uses the bid price as last traded price in forex charts. It is not supported to use a last or midpoint price in forex charts.

          Hi Jason,

          Thanks for your reply.

I hope this can be fixed in NT8, because for me its a disaster. I will have to open a chart from TWS everytime I place a trade to see where the correct entry and stop price is.

I will forward the suggestion to support such charts to development.

I'm guessing this enhancement (providing a real 'Last' for FOREX) will be for NT8.

In the meantime perhaps the following change would be simpler for the next version of NT7:
Currently if the user selects a FOREX instrument in a chart (or strategy) the default for 'price based on' is 'Last'. But since NT 7 does not supply a real 'Last' for FOREX this option should be removed when a FOREX instrument has been selected, or at least the default should be changed to 'Bid', which seems to be a convention for FOREX charts.
By having a default of 'Last' most people using FOREX will end up with historic data flagged as 'Last' (which sounds as though its unbiased), whereas its really Bid data (which is biased).
