Problems adding new instrument and importing data

I'm trying to add a bogus instrument in Instrument Manager and then import data to the instrument.

I'm getting the following error: Unable to import file 'C:\path..\6ET.Last.txt'. Instrument is not supported by repository.

I've done this sort of thing before so I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Basically, this is 6E futures contract data that I don't want to merge with my existing data just yet so I'm testing it in a bogus instrument. In instrument editor, I've given the bogus instrument the name 6ET and I've used all of the standard 6E instrument settings except I've set Exchange = default and Symbol map as External = 6ET.

What am I doing wrong? How to I get the instrument to be supported?

Thank you for your post.

Based on your description, I think that this would relate to the file name which is being used. Since this artificial instrument is a future, you would need to include an expiry in the file name. For example, 6ET 03-13.Last.txt.

Kyle, it's already a continuous back-adjusted contract. Could I name it 6ET ##-##.Last.txt?

Sry, I'm asking now w/o renaming yet b/c it's a huge file and it takes awhile to manipulate it.

Yes, importing using the name 6ET ##-##.Last.txt should do the trick here. If you encounter further issues with importing this file please let me know.
