How to make a Day of the Week into a variable

Is there a way to make a Day of the Week into a variable, so when I back test I can exclude a particular day?

This is possible using the example provided below.

First in the Variables section set the string to be used for the DayOfWeek:

        #region Variables
		private string sDayOfWeek = "Thursday";

Then set the conditions in the OnBarUpdate() method:

        protected override void OnBarUpdate()
        {			
			DayOfWeek sDOW = Time[0].DayOfWeek;
			
			if(sDayOfWeek == sDOW.ToString())
				return;

Then make sure to set the string as a user defined variable if you wish:

        #region Properties
		[Description("Day Of Week")]
		[GridCategory("Parameters")]
		public string SDayOfWeek
		{
			get{ return sDayOfWeek;}
			set{ sDayOfWeek = value; }

Just the same way that you make anything a queried/input Property.

Declare a backing store.

So how would I be able to choose one of the other days? (Mon-Fri)
I need to be able to choose a day to exclude in the Strategy Analyzer. How will this example accomplish this?

Thank you for your response.

With the example I provided you would just type the name of the day into the Parameters section for the Day Of Week.

Please see the attached screenshot for the String Parameter in the Indicators menu.

If you did everything that I wrote, you would not need to ask that question. It is a System enum. You do not need to create another enum: the System already provides you with one. No need to reinvent the wheel.

That may be the simplest way, if you are absolutely certain that 3 is the maximum number that you would ever disable.

You could also just use 7 bools, one for each day, and just set those you wish to handle. Such a method might actually be more flexible, as in such a case, you can decide how many you want to disable, and that number will be flexible.

You somewhat overthought your code. The error message is telling you that DDay is not a member of the System enum, which of course, it cannot be, as you just declared DDay.

DDay is of type DayOfWeek. That is how you declared it, so you use it directly.
