    Adding options to Instrument Manager

    Hello,
Is it possible to add options to the instrument manager? For example XLF: Feb-15, Put Strike 17.
If so, how do I do that?
Also, can I keep track of bid/ask prices and sizes in the database?

    Thanks.

    Hello gogetit,

Thank you for your forum post.

Unfortunately NinjaTrader does not support options. You will be able to add Equities, Futures, Forex and Indices to the Instrument Manager.

Bid/Ask data will be downloaded as historical chart data from your data provider.

Please let me know if I can provide any further assistance.

Thanks. Is there a way around it through the code? Let's say I write some indicators, can I somehow get data on options? I'm using IB by the way.

        Hello gogetit,

I am not familiar with a way to receive data for options within NinjaTrader using custom code.

It may be possible but we would be unable to support any functionality like this.

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but since you're using IB, you can D/L their Excel DDE workbook and you can do wonderful and amazing things with it. I use it along side my NT platform to track and perform math and analytics real time that I wouldn't have a hope in hell of trying to code in NT.

Stocks, futures, Options, it's all there and the heavy grunt-work is done for you already. If you can run the basics of excel, you can do what you need to do with options.

Hi Steve, I'm actually quite familiar with the excel addon.
What I really want to do is to keep track of certain options, and logged their bid/ask/last (prices and sizes for each).
I wrote some macros to help me do that in excel, but the performance aren't great as one might expect. I thought I could use NT for that.
