    Need help

    I am running latest Ninja version with a fresh install yesterday.
    I am running CQG data for futures and IQfeed for Equities
    I am running about 12-15 charts. memory usage is bounding around 800 meg ( i have 16gigs).
    I use market analyzer with maybe a couple hundred equities. I use the analyzer to scroll through equities that are linked to charts.

    I am getting a very frustrating issue that keeps repeating. I click on a security in the analyzer and i get a completely null/blank chart. No data whatsoever. teh only way i can resolve it is to restart ninja.

    I have been using the setup without major issue for a month or so.

    Thank you for your forum post.


    Does this situation occur on multiple instruments or just one? Can you see price movement for these instruments within the Orders tab of the Control Center when selected under the "Name:" drop down menu? (Bid/Ask/Last prices)


    To troubleshoot the situation, I would suggest to force NinjaTrader to start without opening any of your previously saved workspaces and test on a new blank workspace:

    Please take the following steps to force NinjaTrader to start without your saved workspace(s)

    * Shut down NinjaTrader
    * Navigate to (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\workspaces
    * Delete the file named "_Workspaces.XML".
    * After deleting this file, restart NinjaTrader which should startup without any workspaces.
    * Once NinjaTrader has started on just the control center, please open a new market analyzer and link it to a chart window and test for issue.

    If no issues on this new workspace, please try opening the previous workspace by going to File--> Workspaces--> Open workspace.


    If this reintroduces issues, I would suggest rebuilding your workspace. Please keep track of what indicators/studies you add back in so that we can narrow down what is causing the issue if the issue returns.

      Ok - i deleted every workspace, deleted every single template. Reloaded Ninjatrader.
      Restarted Ninja
      Restarted Computer

      I still get this infuriating BLANK chart when i load them. the only way to fix it is restart ninja. see screen shot attached showing active connections, low usage on the CPU, and two blank charts....WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

        Thank you for the update.


        Are you able to see price movement for these instruments in another window within NinjaTrader such as Time & Sales, a SuperDOM or the Orders tab of the Control Center?


        If so, you can continue to troubleshoot the situation by resetting your instruments:
        • Disconnect from any data providers.
        • Control Center > Tools > Options...
        • Data tab > Reset Instruments
        • Restart NinjaTrader and retest the situation

          what exactly will this "reset" for the Instruments. i have spent many hours entering stock names in the "description" field for 1500 + equities and dont want to lose that work.

            When you perform an instrument reset, the following actions will occur:
            • User added instruments will not be affected.
            • Any changes you have made to the original instrument settings will be reset
            • Any changed symbol mappings will be reset including changes made for use with the Automated Trading Interface.

              how do i know if the equities are "user added"?

                Usually user-added instruments will not have a description or a URL defined within the Instrument Editor in the Instrument Manager unless these were added manually.


                I have just tested on my end with a user-added equity and I can confirm that after resetting the instruments, the custom instrument remains within the Instrument Manager.

                  really at the end of my rope. Now i cannot even get an indicator dialogue box to open. I ahve deleted all of my templates and workspaces. I uninstalled then re-installed Ninja trader. Re-booted.

                  Open application. open a chart with no indicators. I then try to add one indicator and the whole thing hangs/freezes.

                  now what?

                      i deleted everythign (including custom indicators) and reinstalled. I have added a scant few one by one and will monitor it this morning. if that did not fix it then i will send you the log file cob today.

                        after investing many hours in a complete reload this appears to have finally solved my issue. case closed

                          wait not quite. so i found my corrupt script by trying to load it back up. I deleted it from teh Bin custom indicator folder and restarted...but now ninja locks when i attempt to open the "indicator" dialogue on a chart.

                          Is there any way to fix this without re-doing the multi hour process of scrapping everything, loading back up custom scripts, redoing all my templates and workspaces? I mean it takes HOURS.
