Independent Strategy Questions.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have several questions on running strategies, considering following two scenaries:

(1) two strategies (A&B) on same symbol (product), strategy A for 1 min chart, and the other one (strategy B) for 5 min chart. Now, if strategy A long 1 contract first, then later strategy B produce a short position - short 1 contract.

My questions are: what is total position on NinjaTrader platform? and what is total position on Broker end?

(2) if I initially manually long 2 contracts first, then use stratey A, and strategy A short 1 contract. Then, the same questions: what is total position on NinjaTrader platform? and what is total position on Broker end?

Maybe someone can give more details on how the "Independent Strategies" works?

By the way, how many orders will be generated when using Enterlong()? - Only one order to long, or two orders (one long cancel all short, and another long)?

Hello baker95168, welcome to our forums here:

In your scenario the total strategy position would be then flat, same as on your broker's end if you executed both script to the same account.

If you had already 2 contracts long on this account and then processed the same strategy orders, you would see no change change in your net position.

The strategies act indepdently, so there's no cross communication between Strategy A and Strategy B.

The Enter() methods would reverse for you if needed, so if you're short 1 and call EnterLong for 1 contract, NinjaTrader would sent a buy order for 2 contracts, one to exit the short, one to go then long.
