    getting email to work

    I have been having trouble getting email to to work from ninjatrader.
    under tool/options/misc, I have tried to test different mail systems, gmail, my regular mail, and the "default" options. I have tried both ports 25 and 587 (which is the port normally send to). Also with and without security. Oh' and yes I do know my passwords.
    It fails every time I try to send a test message

    Could someone please post gmail setting that they know work ( leave your name and password blank) and/or
    suggest what I might need to check on my system.

    smtp.gmail.com
    port 587, SSL checked
    user: username ( username only, no @ gmail.com )
    password: password

    Is this a new GMAIL account? Have you ever turned on IMAP services at gmail.com?

    (I think IMAP does both smtp and imap.. there is also an option some where in their maze for smtp).

      I changed gmail to imap. I did not think anyone used pop any more. Its like sending files by uucp. But anyway it did not make any difference. And those were the settings I was using. Tried several times both to my gmail and a different account as receiving account.
      The log message is:

      "Failed to send test mail: Failure sending mail"

      Not really sure if that tells us enough to know if the smtp server rejected our connection or there is some issues with ninjatrader.

      Any ideas?

        Hello,

        Also, do keep in mind that when making any changes you will need to press "OK" to apply any changes made before testing, otherwise you will be testing the previous applied configuration.

          Thank you for your advice. Yes I did remember to press "okay".
          No that link did not help me.

          But consider that I have tried this to both gmail and to my normal email server, Both have failed. I am able to send and receive email through those servers with a great variety of email clients.

          So we might assume that this is a ninja issue. What can we do to diagnose the problem?


          On another issue. ninja log keeps reporting that it can't restore a strategy when I bring up the application.

          But the strategy it refers to does not even exist anymore. I deleted it.
          Any chance you know how to purge the restore request from start up?

            Hello,

            Please email the most current log and trace files to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com, so I may investigate this matter further.


            Please include http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...d.php?p=316096 in the body of the mesage

            You will find the log file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.
            • The log file will be named "log.YYYYMMDD.txt"

            You will find the trace file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
            • The trace file will be named "trace.YYYYMMDD.txt"
