    Hello huohuoge,

    Thank you for your post.

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.
    • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
    • Press the "New" button
    • *Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
    • Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider
    • Press the "OK" button

The instrument is now added to the master instrument list. Please follow the instructions below if you want to add this instrument to an instrument list.
    • Select the instrument list you wish to add the instrument to via the "Instrument lists" drop down list in the upper left hand corner
    • Select the exchange (Default recommend for equities) as this will route orders to your broker smart routing system
    • Select the appropriate expiration date if this is a futures instrument
    • Press the "<" button to add the instrument to the list

You are now complete and can press the "OK" button.

Thanks Kyle, I've tried what you suggested and it works to some extent with Yahoo but I still get some issues with Google. Let me make it more clear by given an example. Say, I want to chart equities/indexes in Chinese market. As a first step assume I only want daily chart.

Let's first use Yahoo as data source. If we take the Shanghai composite index on Yahoo, one can download the daily historical daily data with ticker symbol 000001.ss. Now, I've set it up in NT and I do get some data, which appears to be end of the day only and no candle sticks can be plotted, it turn out that Yahoo data feed was like that, so I need an alternative source.

Now, if we use Google as data source which uses symbol SHA:000001, NT produces an error complaining that on the exchange I've selected, there is no such symbol. Since Chinese exchanges are not on the exchange list and when I set up a new instrument I have to select (randomly )some exchange on top of the default exchange, I assume I will always get the error regardless of the extra exchange I would select.

So far, since even daily data is problematic, intraday data doesn't work as to be expected. For Yahoo it might be the data source issue though. I am actually wondering if I can just set up an instrument for certain (Chinese) equities/indexes and load a csv file (or text file compiled to NT supported format) which contains historical data for charting, without live data feed.

        Hello,

Could you please provide a link to the symbol which you're trying to load data for?

For google finance, it is: http://www.google.com/finance/histor...KDjE4SFwAPLuQE
for Yahoo finance, it is http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=0000...torical+Prices
I have to say, it works for Yahoo but Yahoo data is not good enough

            Hello,

I was able to get this working from Google using the symbol:

            SHA:000001

As far as the exchange, since it is not listed in our database, you can set this up as an Index and just use "Default" as the exchange.

Please keep in mind that the Google and Yahoo connections are End of Day connections only. You will not receive historical intraday data from these connections.

However you can always download and import this data from a text file. We will have a specific format that the data and files need to be in. You can read more about these requirements from the following link:
