Creating a New Indicator

Can anyone help please?

I wish to create a new indicator which is basically the ratio of one instrument / product to another

eg I would like the new indicator to be something like the S&P500 index divided by the Nasdaq100 index or The Dow divided by the FTSE100

Unfortunately I cant seem to work out how to do this:-( so any pointers would be very appreciated
