    Sharing backtest results

I'd like to share saved backtest results in a blog post. I noticed in another post that the backtests are saved in Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\. Is it possible to share individual backtests without exporting the entire database?

texasnomad, unfortunately that would not be possible - for exporting a single result, I would suggest working with the export to Excel feature to prepare as needed.

      Hi Bertrand,

Could i also ask a question on this topic?

Is it the NinjaTrader.sdf file that holds the results? Also i believe it holds chart templates? Is the file always the same size? I've added and deleted results and the file does not sem to change in size.

      Can the size be altered?

      Cheers

Yes, the .sdf file holds these results.

The chart templates are saved in Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\Charts\

You'll see a list of individual XML files which save these templates.

The size will be altered depending on what is contained in the database file. Depending on the number of results, you may not see this size change.

          Thanks Matthew,

Can i just clarify the size issue? So if you are saying i might not see the size change is that because it change in set sizes? As in mine is currently 262,484KB, so we expect it to be this size until it the contents reaches the limit then it allocates another 262,484KB ?

          Cheers

P.S. What is the minimum size? If my assumptions are right.

Mike, I think when reset completely fresh you would see it using around 5MB, the maximum would be 256MB.

If you compact / repair the DB under Tools > Options > Data - would space be freed up?

              Hi Matthew,

Yes it does compact it a little bit. As much as i'd expect after deleting only a couple of results.

              Cheers
