Creating a new chart on the fly

I'm writing a "scanner" that runs as a strategy and would like to be able to create a new chart on the fly when a new alert is triggered. Is there a programmatic way to do that within Ninja Trader?

Hello Leroy,

There would be no supported way create a new chart on the fly programmatically. You may use the Market Analyzer to "scan" the market and quickly create a chart by right clicking on the chart row of the Instrument that you would like to create and select "Send to" -> "Chart..."

There has to be a way

There has to be a way to do it. You guys do it in the strategy analyzer...and of course, there is the old windows standby 'windows messaging'. Please did a little deeper....this would be an incredible upgrade for future versions (for an API), but it is possible to do it now even with only windows messaging.

Please take another look.

You can take reference from the rollover indicator and further custom code your NinjaScript code using the MiniInstrumentSelector class to change the instrument/periodicity of a chart.

I did it....but it wasn't easy. You guys should definitely give us a method to create a new "default" chart or let us specify the settings to use when creating a new chart.

Works pretty well, but since I could not find an API....I had to brute force it through your api.
