Scaling in to a full size position

I am trying to scale in (i.e.) add more contracts once my target (unrealized gain) is reached (i.e. plus 10 ticks). Do I need to use the Strategy Wizard, or do I need to unlock the code? Thanks in advance.

    Hello kangethe,

Yes, it would be possible to scale into a Strategy using the Strategy Wizard. When applying the Strategy you will have to change the Order Handling inside the Strategy Parameters to accomplish this via the Strategy Wizard. For example using Entries Per Direct set to 2 you can enter a position and scale in once based upon your conditions.

You may view the following thread for more information about scaling in and out in a strategy and also see a reference sample if you would like to use custom coding.

If possible, I would like to use the Strategy Wizard. How do I set the parameters?

When I try to use the Strategy Wizard, and I want to add position when my unrealized gain is met, it will ask me to enter long or short, and not add to existing position.

You will just want to use the EnterLong or EnterShort and this will add a new order to your existing position.

For example if you are long 1 contract and use EnterLong, you will then find yourself long 2 contracts.

The problem that I am having is when on the condition builder, when I select unrealized PnL on the left side, should I use and equal sign and what condition should I use on right side? Also what parameter type should I use for unrealized PnL (Currency, Percent, or Points)?

              Hello kangethe,

That will depend on your trading preferences. The Unrealized PnL inside the Strategy Wizard will return a double value representing the unrealized profit and loss.
