alt-F4 is of course the standard windows OS "close the window" from forever.Originally posted by ChopR View PostComing from NT6 where one could hit Alt-F4 and get a chart marker, I have found it difficult to break the habit of using those keys in NT7. Unfortunately, Alt-F4 in NT7 closes the active chart.

What are you trying to remove? That is what I do not understand. Alt+F4 is not a listed combination in NT7. How can you remove that which is not listed in the first place?Originally posted by ChopR View PostWhy?
Anybody try the solution recommended by Sledge and have success? I unfortunately did not.

I didn't exactly recommend any solution. Just pointing out the differences, and the hot key manager in NT 7 which was not in 6.5.Originally posted by ChopR View PostWhy?

Trying to assign "ALT+F4" to anything says 'invalid'.
I am allowed to assign (SHIFT or CNTRL) + ALT + F4.
There are some things on the internet about modifying hot keys in the Windows registry, but I doubt that will do anything for the block in NT.

I found this post which you can install some software to at least disable alt+f4Originally posted by ChopR View PostComing from NT6 where one could hit Alt-F4 and get a chart marker, I have found it difficult to break the habit of using those keys in NT7. Wow, Sledge thank you – can’t wait to try your possible solution idea.
What in the heck is a "kill" button doing nested in the middle of benign drawing tools?
Imagine this: you have just spent a many hours/days on tedious backtesting of a strategy and your chart is completely marked up with your shorts/longs, Targets, strategy signals etc. etc.on days of data. You have another trade to mark.and .you reach for your Alt + F3 down arrow and miss it by a fraction and hit ALT +F4 and *poof* you can kiss all that work goodbye!
Yes!! – you just initiated the Serial killer key that was hiding in the lovely hedge of chart beautifying tools.
I so pray this "fix" works or they come up with a way to allow the user to decide whether or not they want this kind of devil parked in the middle of their useful hardworking hotkeys.
No slight is meant to anyone, just an expression of extreme irritation using black humor at having lost some incredibly painstaking work….more than once.
Many thanks Sledge!
