    GAIN Capital Historical Data

    Hi,

Am I right in saying that GAIN capital Historical data is only to 4 d.p for EURUSD? I've got data ranging back to 10/05/2006 but it only goes to 4 d.p. eg. 1.3053. I need the 5th d.p ideally because I'm trying to back test on smaller time frames and whole pips can influence indicators to provide wrong readings which greatly affects my strategies.

If there is anyway to change the way data is downloaded to include the 5th d.p that would be brilliant. I already have it set to quote FX to 1/10th pip before that is suggested!

    Thanks,
    Harry Seager

    Hello Harry,
In such scenario it would depend on the historical data you have. Unfortunately if you dont have the data in tenth pips you wont be able to backtest it in tenth pips.

Can you clarify whether the historical data GAIN capital provide through NT is in tenth pips?

        Hello Harry,
It would depend on whose server you are using to download the data.

If you are using Gains server to download the data then yes, gain provides tenth pip granularity historical data. However please note, the historical data as provided by Gain is limited to few days only.

To know from where you are downloading the data please follow the below steps:
        • In Control Center menu bar goto Tools> Account connections
        • In the new dialog select you Gain connection and click on Change
        • In the Connection Options dialog click Next and see where you are downloading the historical data from

Apologies, it would appear that historical data is coming from NT servers. Same question applies though, does NT data not come in tenth pips?

            Hello Harry,
Unfortunately we provide data for pips only.

You can consider subscribing to Kinetick which offers historical data with 10th pip granularity and tick data for 120 days.
