    Historical Data

Cannot get LULU from the NASDAQ to load from IB. Keep getting error 200 "no security definition has been found". Settings are all the same as my other stocks I added from what I can see. Any idea whats the cause may be?
    Thanks

    Hello hothomas,

Thank you for your forum post.

When the time comes to add a stock to chart or trade in NinjaTrader for Interactive Brokers that is not already setup by default in NinjaTrader, you may run into the following message.

"Error in requesting historical data from IB: No security definition has been found for the request (200)"

This message means you need to tell NinjaTrader what exchange this instrument trades on since it is not setup by default.

Please go into the Control Center->Tools->Instrument Manager.

Either edit the existing instrument in the list or add the instrument if it is not already added.

In the exchange drop down you will want to select the exchange that IB uses by check marking it as seen in the screenshot below.

You will now be able to access data for this stock from IB.

    Example with Interactive Brokers: http://screencast.com/t/ShiCvNgeg4r

Please let me know if I can provide any further assistance.

That doesn't work. As I said before I have all the correct parameters from what I can tell. It trades on the nasdaq so I have "nasdaq" and "default" checked off. I added the symbol LULU to the symbol map under IB tab. Its in USD so that remains USdollar and its at 0.01 tick. I have no problems adding other symbols so I don't know why it won't accept the parameters

I got the same problems with Dutch stocks. For example Philips with symbol PHI (for IB/TWS).

          How did you solve this?

            Hello no111,

Thank you for your forum post.

You can most likely add these Dutch stocks to NinjaTrader using the "AGN" exchange.

To find out the correct mapping, bring up the stock in Interactive Brokers TWS and then double left mouse click the instrument to bring up the parameters.

You will be able to see the proper exchange to place the instrument under within NinjaTrader.

Here is an example of this parameters page within TWS:

I can assist with this further if you are unable to successfully map these stocks:

I can't remember for sure what fixed it? I think I went into the NT folder within windows and deleted some files (I think cache) with historical data. I think NT always saves the last data from the broker in a small file and like when you revisit a website your browser recalls the stored file on your computer to load the page faster, NT will try to reload the old file for speed from your computer and not IB. So if you delete this file it will request the new historical data from the broker. I'm not in front of my computer with NT so I can't give you the exact path. Hope this helps!
