what's the meaning of "price data feed"?

    Hi, experts

when I connected with TWS, the log windows of NT may show "Primary connection=Connected, Price feed=ConnectionLost"

I want to clarify if "Prmary connection" is the price data channel and the "Price feed" is the trade channel? how to get and use this info at stragtegy?

is the state machine of connection below defined by NT for which channel?

    ConnectionStatus.Connected
    ConnectionStatus.Connecting
    ConnectionStatus.ConnectionLost
    ConnectionStatus.Disconnected

    thanks for any comment

    Hello,

    Thanks for the forum post.

The Primary is the Trading Connection and the Price Feed is the data connection.

You would use OnConnectionStatus() to access these events and you would check either orderStatus or priceStatus depending on which one you wanted to check.

Let me know if any further questions.

sorry for my carelessness. i should have read the help doc further

      I have another question:

      here is my log:

2012/8/10 22:00:17|2|4|HMDS data farm connection is broken:ushmds HDMSDataFarmConnectionBroken
2012/8/10 22:01:34|2|4|HMDS data farm connection is broken:ushmds HDMSDataFarmConnectionBroken
      2012/8/10 22:09:34|1|2|ib: Primary connection=Connected, Price feed=Connected

I want to know why I didn't see something like "Primary connection=Connected, Price feed=Disconnection" prior to 22:00:17?

at this time whether would OnConnectSatus() be triggered?

      BestRegards
      Eric

        Hello,

This is a third server that IB specifically has which is the historical data server. We do not have an OnConnectionStatus trigger for disconnect of historical data server as a disconnect of historical data server really doesn't matter for a live running strategy.

You should still be getting live data however as the live feed was never disconnected.
