Market replay window player disappears

    Market replay window player disappears

    Dear,
    I connect to market replay window, I see it just little bit above control center, then when attaching strategies to charts it disappears, CC still writes it is connected but I do not see it. Where did it go? The only solution is to disconnect and reattach all the strategies again, but that takes quite a long time every time and as this happens often, how can we avoid it? Is there any shortcut that I would press some keys and the window would reappear again without needing me to disconnect?

    edit: it is not that the window is hidden somewhere at side or that resolution of the LCD changed. It was there and just when I attached one of those strategies it disappeared.

    btw. Why strategies for market replay got erased every time when connecting to market replay and not for real connection - I mean real broker connection - I find that quite comfortable, you cannot imagine how much time you would save us if we would not need to reattach the strategies again and again by hand. when we already did once...

    Thanks for the post. Can you do a quick check with the SampleMACrossOver strategy? This will help rule out if the strategy code is somehow contributing to the window position. Also, please check log tab of control center for any error messages.

      The code is not interfering with window position for sure, as I have seen this also happening also to my students (I teach trading course using NT at one university) that never used any strategy and the player window sometimes disappeared when minimizing all windows in windows 7 or during other non-explanatory circumstances.
      The log is fine without problems.
      I was just curious if there is any special key shortcut that would make the window appear from the other universe.

        Do Alt-Tab until you find the control window.

          That does not help as the replay window is independent on it and I only see the control center.

            Obviously there is no shortcut or something that would solve this occasional bug, but please why market replay strrategies get to be erased while the real strategies not?
            How can I make the MRD strategies stay on the strategies tab when I restart NT? - The same way the strategies that are connected to real datafeed stay there.

              What do you mean by "independent"? I only ask because my control window (the MR control window, not the Control Center window) will occasionally get lost behind another window that is set to be "always on top", and alt-tabbing always brings it back to the front.

                This is not the case (I mean the overlay layers). It just disappears occasionally for unexplanatory reasons. No hiding, sometimes it used to help enlarge viewwing area by changing resolution, but this error disappeared even during beta testing. Now a shortcut, that would assign centerization and over the top might help.

                  I've not heard of this before. Can you please try with a default layout and let us know how it goes. For this, close down NinjaTrader and go to your Documents folder > NinjaTrader 7> Workspaces > Right click on file _Workspaces and select delete.

                  Please let us know if this corrects the issue. If it does, can you forward the workspace file you were using previously to support 'at' ninjatrader 'dot' com or attach here?

                    Ryan, it is purely random, not replicable and does not happen very often, so there is in fact no way how I can find out in few minutes if certain solution helps. Probably not, as my students are beginners with NT and do not do special stuff like connecting NT to SQL database to handle instability of NT while not losing trades history when running market replay data test. I did like few tens of MRD tests in last 3 months and this error emerged like 3 times....but reattaching 15 strategies, when each takes about a minute and then a window disappears, you feel like you want to throw the PC out of the window ,that was why I asked if there is something that would for example centerize the player window...never mind, I already restarted it.

                    as to the second question: why when I connect to MRD, why the strategies disappear? When I connect to IQFeed or CQG, the do not. I wnat them there to stay

                      Yeah, sounds frustrating for sure. If you ever see it happen again, send in a note to support 'at' ninjatrader 'dot' com (reference this thread) and we can take a look to start isolating factors.

                      The strategies should stay in the grid. It's working this way in my tests here. For both items you reported today can you please work through our email support so we can collect files and use remote assistance if needed. Thank you.
