How To Perform Backtests?

Apologies for my noob question.

But I have downloaded Ninjatrader 7, connected to Kinetick, Google and Yahoo and followed the youtube videos and online instruction guides for backtesting strategies on historical data.

All that happens is the program appears to work as if it is running the pre-programmed sample strategy on past data and then results are shown and not one single trade has been executed.

Can anyone please help?

How can I get Ninjatrader to perform backtests?

backtests

you can download historical data then use tools/historical data manger to import it into ninja trader to analyze. bets site i used for data so far is stock data download http://www.stockdatadownload.co.uk for minute data or there are other sites for end of day data.

What strategy are you selecting when you backtest? Try the "SampleMACrossover" strategy as you should get some results using this one.
