Pending Orders

Hi,

If I have an active LIMIT or STOP order pending on the DOM or on ChartTrader, does that order get seen by the market, or is it held locally on my machine until price is hit?

Surely it is actually put to market.

Ok. Can I re-phrase my question then.

I have a trade in progress, and my stop is set on my NT DOM. My computer crashes so NT is down... Can´t restart my computer, starting to worry..... No idea where the market is trading, im blind.. is my STOP still there?

Is my STOP going to be active in the market without my NT up and running?

Hello ScottieDog,

This would still be dependent on which broker you use and the state of the order at the time connection is severed. If that order was locally held at the time of the disconnection, the order is not in place at broker servers.

How long would it likely be held locally?

Surely within a very small space of time it will be at the Broker and working...

This can vary somewhat depending on the instrument, broker and order type but generally things do transfer to broker/exchange servers quickly.
