    Data Folder 126GB

    Hello,

My NinjaTrader7>db>Data folder is 126GB in size. I usually run ES, TF, 6E charts with delta info also being recorded. I like having data going back at least 60 days for all 3 instruments.

Is there a way I can clean this up a bit and lower my memory usage or does this sound normal and for me to reduce my memory use I simply have to make do without as much data?
Also, I deleted the folders inside the data folder created in 2011, but when I went to open and load my charts, even though they are running current futures contracts, the charts wouldn't load due to lack of data. I restored my computer to a couple days earlier and the problem was solved however.

Please let me know what my options are.

    Thank you.

    Hello NickF,

Please note that the db-->data folder contains all your Market Replay data. Historical data is stored in the db-->tick, minute and day folders. So you have 126 GB of Market Replay data which is quite a lot. If you like to make use of all Market Replay, you will need to leave the data as is.

If you start to experience performance issues because so much Market Replay data is loaded in NinjaTrader when connected to the Market Replay connection, I suggest to relocate half the amount of data to a different location. Please make sure you do not affect the file structure when copying and pasting files in the db-->data folder. The folder should only contain folders named per date which in turn consist of .ntm and .nt2 files named per instrument.

      Hello,

Perfect Jason. I definitely do not need that much replay data. How can I delete some of it without damaging my current data. Last I tried I just went in the folder, deleted files or folders (not sure which) dated before 2012 and my current charts wouldn't load.
Also When backtesting, am I using the tick or replay data?

      Thank you.

When you backtest, you will use regular historical data and not Market Replay data. Market Replay data is only used when connected to the Market Replay connection.

You can delete the Market Replay data you do not need while NinjaTrader is closed. This will not affect your historical data. You can always view the historical data you have saved in NinjaTrader at Control Center-->Tools-->Historical Data Manager-->Edit-tab.
