    No data in chart

    Hello,

    I'm a new user of NJ. As a first step I've tried to open a chart, but no data diaplayed there.

    I connected to Simulated Data Feed, and then selected File->New->Chart.
    In the Data Series window I selected ES 06-10 (thought it is good enough for simulation), pressed the "New" button and then "OK".

    A new windows is opened. On its upper left side "ES 06-10 1 Min" is displayed - but the chart is empty.

    Couldn't find an answer in the help of the software.

    Please, advice.

    You need to be using the front month, which would be 6-12 right now.

      Tried that too - still no data

      Please, refer to the attached screen shot - maybe it will give a clue.

          Today there is a simulated data. Maybe the simulator produces data only during trading hours, and since I tried it yesterday it was empty?

          BTW - I was looking for documentation about the Time Session mentioned on the thread you gave, but couldn't find any. Is there some documentation PDF for the charting software?

            Below is a link to the "Session manager" within the online help guide which is the same as the integrated help guide within the NinjaTrader Application.

              So, I guess there is no PDF version of the help guide, is that correct?

              Can you plese refer to my question bellow: Does the simulator produce data only during trading hours, and since I tried it yesterday it was empty?

              And one more question: If I'm going to use NT with a real time data service, e.g., Kinetick's, will I be able to see historical data in the charts, or my charts will display only the prics actions occurred when the charting software was running?

                The "Simulated Data Feed" will produce data anytime you have connected to it. This is data that is randomly generated on your local machine.

                If at any point your unable get data anytime the market is close and you are connected to the "Simulated Data Feed", please follow the directions below to retrieve 24/7 data on a chart
                • Right click in your chart and select Data Series.
                • In the Data Series menu, set the "Session Template" property to "Default 24/7", then click OK.

                Yes, Kinetick and many of our other data providers will provide Historical data to back fill your chart for when you are not connected.

                • Then click "Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider"
