    Tick data

    Hello,

I don't know if this exists - if not then can it be added.....

Is it possible to store the tick data from the daily feeds? If I am following a stock on the market analyzer and I want to look at what is happening on another stock then I lose all the tick data for the first stock.

It would be nice if the tick data for the first stock was stored ... not necessarily permanently but for at least while the application is running.

    Thanks

    Hello rsksmiles,

    Thank you for your post.

Please go to Tools > Options > Data > enable the option for Save Chart Data As Historical.
This option will enable the storage of incoming real-time Chart data to your local PC for future historical data requests, however you must be viewing the data on your chart for the data to be saved.

For information on the various options in NinjaTrader please visit the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...t7/options.htm

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Wow ... so far NT has pretty well amazed me in terms of feature rich functionality. Bang for buck it is awesome!

        Hi Patrick,

What I have done is create a chart with all the stocks for the exchange that I am interested in and set the interval to 1 minute. The chart has then been saved into the workspace and so everytime I open NT I will get all the tick data for all the stocks that interest me.

Any comments on that? Am I going to blow up NT doing this?

          Hello rsksmiles,

          Thank you for your response.

A minute chart will not provide you with tick data, as a minute charts underlying data type is minute.

              Hello rsksmiles,

              Thank you for your response.

A Tick bar is based on a specific number of trades (ticks). A bar will build until the specified number of ticks is reached. The next tick will then result in a new bar being created.

Second, Minute, Day, Week, Month, and Year bars are all built based on the passage of time. The bar will plot for a specified amount of time. Once this time is exceeded, a new bar will begin.
