    Custom range dataseries is resetting when timeframe is typed in

    Hi,

    I'm working on historical data and I set my data series as a custom range. Then when I change time frames back and forth with the drop down (daily to 60M or 15M) it works ok.

    But if I want a 4 hour frame I type in 240M and when I press enter the custom rage is reset with end date of "today". (Leaving me with a blank chart as I don't have minute data "younger" than a week.)

    Intended behavior or bug?

    Hello,

    I was not able to immediately reproduce using NT V7.0.1000.9 (current)

    When setting a custom date range and then changing the data series by typing 240M on the chart, the end date is saved.

    Can you please shut down NinjaTrader and navigate to (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\ChartSeries and delete any xml files listed in this menu.

    Once deleted, please restart and test again.

    Please let me know if you need further assistance.

      Hi,

      My C:\Users\<user>\Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\ChartSeries directory does not contain any files.

      I am using the NT 7.0.1000.9 version and have checked this on both 32bit and 64bit,

      I recorded a short screencast of me reproducing this:

        Hello,

        Thanks for the detailed video.

        Can you please try this again by changing "Load data base on" to "Custom Range" and set the specific start and end date you wish to view.

        Please let me know if you see this same behavior with this setting.

          Hi,

          Actually I did it first with CustomRange with the same unwanted result. Thats when I wrote the original post.

          Playing around with this I noticed that the neither the "Days" nor "CustomRange" settings work (for me) and the "Days" variant was the one that ended up in the video.

          If I use the settings value "Bars" it does however work. But It's not a convenient option to use for me.

            Can you please email your current workspace file so I can test further?


            To save a copy of your workspace, please go to File--> Workspace--> Save "Workspace As..." and Save this workspace with the name "Support".


            You will find your workspace under (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\workspaces\Support.xml


            Please attach this workspace XML document to an email addressed to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with a reference to this thread and I can look into this further.

              time frames

              is there many of pre configuring time frames that arent idemized in the drop down menu without having to type them in each time plez?

                  Did you guys resolve the problem the OP was having? I'm just wondering because this is a problem that I've always had as well, but I thought it was the way NT was supposed to work.

                    Adding the ability to customize the drop down menu with custom time frames is on our development team's list of future enhancements and is tracked using ID # 82
