    Rollover contracts in strategies tab

    Hello
Is it correct, that I have to delete and re-create my strategies in the "strategies" tab each time a contract rollover happens, because it is not possible to change the instrument of an existing strategy? (note: I am not interested to use a backadjusted contract from the datafeed provider)

    thanks

    Hello Beauregard,

Yes, unfortunately you will need to stop your strategy and apply it on the instrument with the new expiry month. It is not possible to change the instrument while the strategy is still running.

      hi
to stop and restart would be no problem. But I have to delete it, create it, enter all parameters again (make sure all are correct) and then run it. Right? There is no way to change the instrument?

Yes, you will need to re-apply the strategy. It is not possible to just change the instrument.

          Jason,
I am a long time user of NT, and this is one of those issues that are hard for users to understand. Why can't you simply update the contract? For those of us with long lists of parameters and complex systems, this is an arduous task, for no real reason. Can you submit this as a bug, or "feature request"?

Also, along these same lines, if you could simply copy an existing strategy line to a new one, and select the new contract, that would work just as well. Then you would not have to update the current contract, simply start the new strategy with the parameters all copied from the old line.

              Beauregard,
I found a kind of workaround. It is not the best, so I still request they fix this, but it kind of works. If you disable and edit the current strategy, then right click on the current strategy parameter list, you can select "set current default". Then it will use that current default for the new strategy line when you select that strategy. The only drawback with this is if you like to store a certain default set that is different than what you are using. In that case you would have to apply the default set to some other strategy line, and then reapply it as the default after the whole process is done. Kind of a pain and unnecessary.

                Another question:
is it possible, from the Edit Strategy Tab, to select and so edit more than one strategy at the time?
                Thanks in advance!

                  Helllo mirkocero,

Unfortunately this is not supported. Once you open the Edit Strategy window, it will open for the strategy in question only. If you like to edit another strategy, you will need to right click another strategy you have listed in the Control Center-->Strategies-tab.
