Sound files
I have created some alert sound files in wav format. I have placed them in the NT sound directory with the other default sound files. Mine are not playing when they should while the defaults are playing. When I look I note that my files all have a padlock on their Icons . Can you tell me what is going on and how I can get the alert sounds to play?Tags: None

Hello deanldavis475,
Thank you for your note.
A few items;
Are the sound files .wav format?
Are your indicators/alarms set to call your specific file, or are they set to call Alert1, Alert2, Alert3, etc.?
Note if your custom sound files .wav format, then you should be able to replace the sound file.
Close NinjaTrader
Go to Start button -> My Computer -> C -> Program Files or Program Files x86 -> NinjaTrader 7 -> sounds
Right click on the existing Alert1 file -> Rename -> OLDAlert1
Then Right click on your first Alert -> Rename -> Alert1
Repeat these steps for all 4 alert files.CameronNinjaTrader Customer Service

Yes my files are in *.wav format. Are you saying that If my files are called Euro Up.wav it will not play but if I replace the same file to alert1.wav and rename the old alert1.wav file to oldalert1.wav that then my file will play??

deanldavis475,
This depends on how your indicators or custom alerts are setup.
What tool are you using to play these alerts?
Such as, custom alarm in the Market Analyzer, indicator, strategy, etc.
Additionally, are your custom sound files located in the Sounds folder as mentioned in post #2?CameronNinjaTrader Customer Service

The wav files are in the default NT sound folder. They are being used in custom indicators.
So my question then is Can I not have my files named anything but Alert1 thru alert16??? I can not have my files in a indicator alert named Long Up.wav??

Hello,
There are some limitations in that for it to play correctly it needs to use the same .wav file settings as our own .way files.
You can check out our .wav files in the Program Files->NinjaTrader 7->sounds folder.
I did a quick check and the .wav files are 88kbps bit rate.
