Missing data on GC Comex Gold with CQG

    Using Ninja Trader 7.0.1000.8

Shut my computer down after trading today. Restarted this evening and my charts for the GC symbol are missing data. My trades are highlighed but the charts are displaying only half the number of ticks.

    Please advise

    Hi,

    Thanks for writing in.

I'm not totally sure that I follow. Can you provide an image of your chart?
To send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

        Hi,

I'm seeing (basically) that same chart when loading a GC 04-12 chart here with CQG. Are there any specific differences you'd be able to point out to me here?

the charts has less than 1/2 the number of bars for the day... you can see that the text from my trades overlap on the chart as i did not trade that frequently....

could this be a CQG issue? compare todays data with yesterdays session... i show half the amount of data today...

            traderjon,

Do the high's and low's look to be accurate? Which 'merge policy' do you use in the Options menu? (Tools > Options > Data tab)

                    Hi,

I.ve been having trouble of this nature every once in a while and only with GC. Yester my problem came back - I too had missing intraday vol data in GC and my daily charts were not updating intraday. Today I read this post and applied "DO NOT MERGE" policy to the GC charts and it worked. However, all other non GC charts (CL ES ZB...) have a merge policy of MERGE NON BACKADJ. My questionis what does the DO NOT MERGE option do inorder to fix the problem of no intraday data....and why does it not need to apply to my other instruments?

                    Thx.

                      Hello,

Do Not Merge will disable the merge policy for these contracts. This means when you load a chart, it will only show the instrument from the day it started trading without merging it into the previous contract when it rolled over.

This should apply to all instruments if you had set this under Tools--> Options--> Data tab.

However depending on the date the instrument rolled over, you might not see this option effect those contracts.

Regarding GC, can you please go to Tools--> Instrument Manager--> locate the instrument and select 'Edit'.

From the Instrument Editor, click on the Misc tab--> scroll down the the "Contract Months" section.

Click here for more information on Understanding the Misc tab > Contract Months

You will want to edit the 12-12 roll over date to 7/30/12

Once you have made this change, you can set the merge policy back to "Merge Back Adjusted" and then right click on your charted instrument and select 'reload all historical data'.
