Chart Alert Execution through IB?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to NinjaTrader 7 and can't work out if it's possible to set up automatic trade execution through IB based on charting alerts in NinjaTrader. Is it possible, or is the only real point of having IB for the data feed if I want to trade directly off pre-specified technical alerts setup in NinjaTrader?

You can create a custom automated strategy that will submit orders as per the conditions you program.

It is possible to trade your IB account discretionary and automated in NinjaTrader.

So am I correct in thinking that although I can run automated strategies through a chart and submit orders through a program - that all execution will be done without IB being the broker?

Further, if I am to use IB as the broker for chart-based strategies I have to manually execute them once I receive alerts from NinjaTrader?

Yes, you can trade the NinjaTrader sim101 account as well when trading discreationary or automated while connected to IB.

When you run a strategy or trade discreationary, you will select the account you like to trade. If you select your IB account, orders will be routed automatically to IB. No need to manually execute the orders in IB/TWS.
