Delete All Instruments in DEFAULT list

Is there a way to delete ALL of the instruments in the DEFAULT list without having to delete them one at a time? I accidently added over 4600 to the list and it takes FOREVER to load.

Thanks for writing in.

The only other way to clear this information out would be to rename the database. This would clear any and all instrument lists and any instruments which you may have added to NinjaTrader as well. Would this be an option for you?

At this point, anything would beat having to Delete all 4600 instruments one at a time. LOL Especially since after deleting just 2 or 3 symbols, the system goes into Never Never Land (Not Responding) for a few minutes. I suspect it is updating the database.

Thanks for getting back to me.


Please rename your database by following the steps listed below. Doing so will cause NinjaTrader to create a new database on start up. Because of this, ATM strategy templates, custom instruments and instrument lists will need to be recreated.

To rename the database:

• Shutdown NinjaTrader.
• Open the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > DB folder.
• Right click on NinjaTrader.sdf and select "Rename." *
• Rename the file 'OLDNinjaTrader.sdf'.
• Finally, restart NinjaTrader.

Before I do that, will I lose my Indicators or will they still be there? FYI, I do not have any custom strategies and recreating the custom instruments and lists would be far faster than deleting them all one by one.

Hi Steve,

Indicators will remain in place just as they are now. They are stored elsewhere within the software.
