ATM -- protective stop order entered with limit order

So, if I want to buy with a limit, is there a reason I wouldn't want the ATM to also enter the protective stop at the exchange even before the limit is filled? I've had some internet issues that has caused me to think about some of these safety issues. As my limit is sitting there, why shouldn't my stop also be sitting there? For a position opened with a stop, I can understand why the protective stop would not entered until the order is placed. However, with a limit, I see no reason why. The problem is that if my limit is sitting there, and my internet goes out seconds before I'm filled, then I'm filled while my connection is down, then my position is naked and unprotected. So, I have lately been simply using no ATM and placing the limit and stop together.

Edit from previous post: I see the scenario you describe now and don't see any issues with it. You're submitting a pair of orders (entry limit and stop exit) at the same time.

I mean, I would like to consider the option of the default ATM strategy submitting the protective stop to the exchange along with the limit order.
