    Error installing

Hi. I downloaded NinjaTrader and I'm getting an error installing it. Here is the error:

    Error 1001. InstallUtilLib.dll:ClrCreateManagedInstance (hr=0x80004005): Unspecified error

    Can you help?

I am running Windows XP Pro sp3.

    Thank you,
    Dan

    Hello AlienFrog,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forums!

Please follow the instructions below to re-install the Microsoft .NET Framework on your PC.
    • Terminate any applications running on your PC
    • Go to the Windows Control Panel
    • "Add/Remove programs" for XP users or "Uninstall a program" for Vista and for Windows 7 the option to uninstall/install a program is called “Programs and Features”
    • Locate and uninstall the .NET Framework
      • If your highest version is 4.0 or greater than do not continue with these instructions and let us know and we will follow up with further instructions
      • If your highest version is 3.5 then proceed and uninstall this version and skip the next line
      • If your highest version is 2.0 then proceed and uninstall this version
    • Install version 3.5 of the .NET Framework which contains the 2.0 version which is required by NinjaTrader 6.5 (Download from here)
    • After the install please check for updates to the .Net Framework with the Windows Update function

Note: Do not reboot your PC in between these steps as this can potentially create more issues that we are unfortunately not qualified to assist with.

      Matthew,

I performed the steps you recommended. I had .NET 3.51 sp1. I uninstalled/reinstalled it successfully. They I went to Windows Update and chose all the .NET updates available. Some installed successfully but some failed to install.

I then tried the NinjaTrader installation again but I got the same error as before. I have not restarted my computer, per your instructions. However at this point if I were trying to get the .NET 3.5 updates to install I would normally restart the computer and then try again.

Please advise what you recommend next.

      Thanks.

        Hello,

Do you know for what reason these updates did not complete?

At this point I would suggest restarting your PC and running windows update again. Please make sure to install any updates related to the .NET Framework.

          Hi, Matthew.

I get some error codes on the failed updates but when I look them up their causes are unrelated to my configuration. I have opened a support ticket with Microsoft. They are supposed to respond within one day. I will update this ticket when I have some new info. Thanks for your help so far!

            Dan,

Great thanks for letting me know.

I heard users report success in using the NET Framework Cleanup Utility –

Unfortunately I do not have much experience with this utility or have a link handy to use, however you should be able to find more information on this freeware utility online.

              Matthew,

Thanks to your suggestion I found the .NET cleanup utility. After a typical Microsoft ordeal lasting all day today, I finally got NinjaTrader installed. Now all I have to do is figure out how to run it!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

              -Dan

This error may occur when your account donot have access to access the HKLM\software\ODBC registry key.
go to start --> run, type the regedit32 press ok,
                Go to the HKLM\ Software\ODBC
in the security menu click on permissions.
typ the required permissions for the account.
Restart, If the problem still come then you need to take help for the Microsoft windows vista support to fix the issue.
