What am i doing wrong???

Hello All,

I'v ejust downloaded the Ninja software & have connected with Kinetic. I have the green box down in the left corner showing it's connected.

Trying to display charts & having immense grief!

I simply want to be able to display stocks charts from the ASX such as KAR (Karoon Gas) but i cannot get my head around this ''data series''

No idea!!! Done the Video library which tells you all about the charts once you've already got them to work.

Done the you tube bit hoping to find something to show me the absolute basics with no success so here i am...

Hello DmansDad,

Unfortunately the Kinetick connection does not support ASX stocks so you will not load any data.

You could use the Google or Yahoo connection instead. You can find connection guides at the links below.

They will provide historical daily data only, so you can only create daily charts.

By default, Australian stocks are not listed in NinjaTrader. However, you can add them by typing the stock symbol in an existing chart. Please create a daily AAPL chart and make sure it is the active window on your computer. Subsequently, type the stock symbol. For example, BHP.AX when connected to Yahoo.

Jason, Which data series am i supposed to choose from the list that opens when you are trying to open a chart?

I'm connected to google,
when i go to new - chart - it asks for the data series

default, dow 30, Nasdaq etc

Google uses different symbols for Australian stocks - ASX:BHP. You will not be able to type in this symbol to load data. This will only work with Yahoo.

I suggest to connect to Yahoo and create a new chart. Please select the AAPL which is present by default in NinjaTrader.

Once the chart is opened and the active window on your computer, please type BHP.AX and the chart will load data for the Australian BHP stock.

OK Jason,

I have the AAPL chart open,
I have the green box in the bottom corner showing connected to Yahoo
When i typre the +BHP.ASX or .AX it comes up with 'invalid instrument name'
I tried a couple of other stock codes also & they all get the same response

Typing "BHP.AX" without quotations should work. When I tried this on my end, the requested data was loaded. Make sure there is no space added when you type the symbol.

It looks like there is a space between the "P" and ".". Could this be the case?

Can you please tell me what NinjaTrader version you have installed. You can check this at Control Center-->Help-->About. Make sure you have version 7.0.1000.7 installed. If not, you can download and install it from the link below on top of your current version.

Make sure NinjaTrader is closed when you install the new version.

Do you load data if you type a different Australian stock?

KAR etc etc

Can you please disconnect Yahoo and go to Control Center-->Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and click Reset Instruments. Restart NinjaTrader and try it once more.

If the issue remains, please close NinjaTrader and go to (My) Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->db and transfer the NinjaTrader.sdf file to your desktop. This is your database file and contains ATM Strategy templates, Session templates, Instrument Lists/Custom Instruments and historical trade execution data.

Start NinjaTrader and try it again.

OK.... shutting it down & going again didn't work.
I'll have a go at moving the file etc.
