About Range Bars

Hi,

I have created 2 range Bars.

The problem is that it seems like the range bars are treated somehow as bars of 1 minute (not visually, just handling orders). This is creating errors with the strategy. Orders are trigguered when they are not expected to.

So, the orders are trigguer whenever a range bar will achieve the level within the same minute. That way I have same problems as caused by intrabar 1 min issues.

This issue could be due to that the historical data is without seconds.

Please,see the attached file with a chart and tick data sample.

I would appreciate an advice to overcome the problem.

Thank you for your post.

Yes, you would be correct that your historical tick data does not contain second data. This would mean there would not be any intrabar granularity between each range bar.

Can you please clarify where you obtained this tick data? Was it imported from another source? Or are you using a data provider? If a data provider, who are you using?

Thaks a lot for your repply.

My data provider is Zen Fire. But This issue is with histrical tick data purchased to DiskTrading.com.

All their data is without secs. I did not know this would cause problems.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes that would be the issue as the range bars do not have any values beyond the minute mark to calculate.

To test further, you might want to run your strategy on Market Replay by downloading this data from our replay servers. With market replay, you should expect the bar close to happen whenever those ticks were received.

Market Replay works if you have downloaded or recorded market replay data.
