    Question On Auto Reverse

I like this feature because frequently I do like to reverse my position at my stop. However, just as frequently there are times where when my stop is hit I will want to simply close out my position. I use chart trader and the ATM that I use has the "Rev at Stop" box checked. I thought that I could simply change the # of contracts on the fly if I decided in the course of a trade that I simply wanted to exit. But the number of contracts stayed twice my original order.

Is there a way to quickly change the number of contracts on my stop to the original number of my entry order if I decide in the middle of a trade that I'm simply going to exit instead of reverse?

    Best Regards
    Chuck

    Hello Chuck,

    Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately there is not an option to remove this option once you have entered the position. One option is to close the position manually with the Close button. This will close your current position at market and cancel any pending orders.

I have forwarded this to our development team as a suggestion on how we can improve the NinjaTrader platform. Once this suggestion has been input into our tracking system I will forward you the assigned ID number for tracking.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Chris, thanks for taking the initiative on this. I can't believe I'm the only one that would find this a very VALUABLE enhancement to this already great platform. And it doesn't seem to me that it would involve a lot of programming. I would like to lobby HEAVILY for this to be included in the next release. Would you and your associates support me in that? Thanks in advance

        Chuck,

Unfortuantely I can not say when this may be implemented. In the meantime you may cancel the current Stop Loss and Profit then manaully input an OCO protective Stop Loss and Profit Target with the steps I have provided below:
        • Right mouse click within the SuperDOM or Chart Trader
        • Enable OCO
        • Submit your Limit Order
        • Submit your Stop Order
        • Disable OCO

Hello Chris. Is the procedure you described to exit a position if my ATM strategy has the "Rev at stop" button checked? Or is the procedure to reverse my position if the ATM strategy does not have the "Rev at stop" button checked?

FYI, to keep things simple, I never use a profit target.

            Best Regards
            Chuck

In your scenario if you only use a Stop Loss Order you would not need to use the OCO functionality.

In your situation what you may do is cancel your Pending Stop Loss Order-->Set the ATM Strategy to None-->Submit a new Stop Order to protect your open position.

I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over Submitting Orders in Chart Trader.

I have also provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over Submitting Orders in the SuperDOM.

Hello Chris. This makes sense. What do I have to do to keep both my ATM Strategy and "None" in the drop down menu? When I choose one, the other gets removed so I have to click on the "..." button which becomes very cumbersome. I've attached a Jpeg for your reference.

                Best Regards

With the drop down menu showing if you use your scroll wheel can you scroll up to None?

Didn't even think of that Chris. With the chart window stretched out to the right edge of my screen I didn't see the scroll bar. Duh-oh! Yes it works. I'll get outta your hair now.
