    Phantom Position

How do you get ride of a phantom position in NT.

I had a trade open and NT crashed. I closed the trade and restarted everything. Now NT is telling me that a position is still open and all my trading since is flat when I have a trade on and open when I'm flat.

    I trade with IB.

    Hello Tremblinghandtrader,

Can you please disconnect/reconnect IB in NinjaTrader and check if this will correct the position.

Do you see the execution that closed your position after NinjaTrader crashed in the Control Center-->Execution-tab? I suspect NinjaTrader did not receive the execution update.

You could create an execution manually via the Control Center-->Executions-tab to synch your position. Please right click and select Add. More information can be found at the link below.

OK. Now how do I delete an entry from a previous day?

Unfortunately this is not possible. You can only delete executions for the current day.

          OMG!!

Just as I thought you would say. Do you have an suggestion as to how I'm going to fix this now????????

What has happened is when I reconnected NT has give the trade that happened while disconnected a random time stamp.

And some how the entry trade has now been give the same time stamp as the last trade of the day?

Am I correct you now see both executions in the Control Center-->Executions-tab?

If so, you can delete them and subsequently add two new executions with the proper time.

They are from yesterday. And yes they are both there but have the wrong time. And the enrty that happened 5 minutes before the crash is now shown as an entry 1 hour later as the last trade for the day thats not closed so now all trades today are wrong because NT thinks i have a trade opened from yesterday.

Are you able to delete these executions and add two new ones using the proper time?

You can neutralize yesterday's entry by adding an execution manually that would have taken place yesterday after the entry. That way you were flat at the end of yesterday, so it will not mismatch today's orders.

Do you actually know what you are doing here or just making it up as you go? Every time I add a new trade as you ask another problem develops.

Adding a trade to counter another trade seems not to work but just adds more mess!!

I can add a trade to remove/counter any ones I have already put in manually but it will not allow me to add a manually entry to close out a real trade!!

This has now turned into a real mess.

Unfortunately, I am not sure if I follow. I do not understand why would you close a real position with a manually created execution? If you are currently in a position, it will close once an exit order executes. I am assuming that NinjaTrader currently reflects positions correctly - the same as TWS - as per your second post.

If you refer to something else, please tell me what happens when you manually add an execution. Do you experience an error message?

NO. The problem is that NT has not recognised a position was closed yesterday when NT crashed. And then when it was reconnected it put the original entry at the end of the day. inspite of NT being open for 5 min after I entered the trade.

So from today every trade has been ar$e about becuase NT still thinks I have a position from yesterday. I don't.

No TWS has everything that happend exactly as it has. NT is now very much out of sync. Adding a manual position as per YOUR request has made it worst. See pic. including a trade that actually happend but NT has it 1 1/2 hours to late.

Ok, can you please remove the execution you manually added in the Control Center-->Executions-tab.

Subsequently, go to Control Center-->Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and click Repair DB.

Restart NinjaTrader and check if executions are paired correctly.

Which I did and THEN you tell me that you cannot alter trades EXCEPT the current day.

I have repaired the database already and just done it again but that has been no help.

I am able to delete manually added executions for prior dates on my end. As a test I added an execution for 8/16 manually. Subsequently, I was able to delete it as well.
Unfortunately, you cannot delete it if you disconnected/reconnected your data feed.

Can you please send me your database. Please go to Control Center-->Help-->Mail to Support. Make sure 'Database file' is enabled and send me the email. Please put 'Attn Jason' in the subject header and reference this forum thread.

Please include at what prices and time the trade occured that happened during the crash.
