Correct input for simulator margin options?

There are three account inputs within the NT simulator tab (Tools > Options > Simulator) I need some help on: Margin, Maintenance margin, Margin/unit.

What would these three inputs be if I am looking at a $400 YM margin, initial cash of $2,000, and Round Turn costs of $4.82?

I read through this section on the NT Help file but am still unsure.

Thank you for your post.

Within the Simulator tab you will want to input an Initial Cash value of 2000 and a Margin/unit value of 400.

Commission can be included in your PnL calculations provided you have correctly configured NinjaTrader. Commission values can be defined for each connectivity provider per instrument and per instrument type.

Commission values are used in the following order:

• From the instrument if a commission value has been defined else
• From the instrument type if a commission value has been defined else
• No value is used since none have been defined

Please follow the instructions below to define commission values per instrument type:

• From within the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Options
• Select the tab "Commission"
• Click here for details on defining a commission values

• Double click on the instrument you wish to add a commission value for

Critical: Ensure that 'Apply commission to PnL calculations' is enabled under Tools > Options > General tab.

Thanks Christopher, that helped. I have two more questions though regarding the simulator tab (Tools > Options > Simulator:

What should my values be for Margin (default at 0.50) and Maintenance margin (default at 0.30)?

This will depend on the end user. I have provided a link below to our Help Guide which includes a section "How the Margin parameters impact Account values".

You may test with the Default settings and once in a position check under the Accounts tab of the Control Center to see if everything is being calculated the way you would like.
