backup options

i was wondering what stuff i can remove from my NT backups to decrease the size a little bit. the only thing i want to remove is the charts data/historical/replay. i know to get rid of the market replay option, but does the historical chart data remove drawings? also the database option is just for trades and trade stats right?

Market Replay Data does not contain your chart drawing object. Chart drawing objects will be stored as a part of your Workspace files.

The Database will contain your trade history, instrument lists and ATM Strategies.

If you are connecting to a data provider that offers historical data you will not need to backup Historical chart data.

nice, getting rid of the market replay data and the historical data i was able to trim the backup file from 300mb to 50mb..

what do the 'ninjascript files' contain when making a backup, are they needed? also do i need to backup the log and trace files?

Ninjascript files are all your indicators and strategies.

Backing up log/traces is only to backup previous logged information that you may want to share in the future. Its not totally necessary as any future issues that may occur would be logged to new files.

thanks for the reply adam. ya i had a trace file get out of hand for some reason and shot up with 1.5gb in size.. so i just removed all my old trace files and let NT start a new one..

Backup information

How exactly do I not transfer my credentials. I have a demo account that I will use at unsecured locations so I want to use my demo account. I do not want to have my real account to be connected to my laptop which will be used at coffee shops when traveling. I have a setup I wouldn't mind using at hotels and other places where I can connect to Firewall/Ethernet connection.

Which options do I need to unclick in the backup to not transfer my account information that I will be transferring to my laptop? So want everything else just not my
1. Ninjatrader account (live account)
2. My connect credentials to my live trading account.

When creating your Backup to have your connection information excluded please uncheck "Configuration Files".
