    Connection Order IB/Zen Daily Chart

    Hello,

I am using IB and Zen Fire with NT. I was wondering is there anyway I can have IB for daily charts of ES and zen fire for real time data. I noticed zen fire only provides RTH daily charts however I want 24 hr. It works fine if left connected 24/7 but if I disconnect/etc it messes my chart up. Anyway I can make it so zen fire provides all the minute/tick/second data than just IB is used for Daily historical data. Thanks in advance.

    Hi YoungOne,

Thanks for the post. With this configuration you have to choose which provider you want to receive data for by connecting to one or the other first. More information on this is available here:

So basically not possible to do what I want. Can only receive data from only 1 provider?

Not exactly, but in your case it's one or the other. Here's the relevant section from the Multiple Connections help guide link:

        Connection Order is Significant
If you are establishing multiple connections that overlap in their provided market data services, the connection order you establish is critical. NinjaTrader will check for required market data services in the order your connections are established.

        For example:

BrokerA - Provides real-time market and historical data
BrokerB - Provides only real-time market data

If you connect to BrokerA first and BrokerB second, when requesting market data NinjaTrader will request the data stream for both real-time and historical data from BrokerA even if you trade against BrokerB. It is possible you want to use the real-time market data from BrokerB (you perceive it to be faster) then you should connect to BrokerB first and BrokerA second. NinjaTrader is smart enough to realize that although it uses BrokerB for real-time data it will request historical data from BrokerA.

I think I may have found a solution. I went under account connections and disabled zen fire historical data. I then connected to zen fire first than IB. Seems to be working. Thanks
