Market Analyzer: Establish Beginning Date instead of # of Bars for Data

    Hello:

I am having a lot of problems establishing the same beginning date for all instruments I place in a Market Analyzer window. This is critical for those of us who use trading cycles to purchase shares of stocks, etc. One must keep the start date of the cycle the same over an extended period of time, lest the cycle change as the data moves forward each new day. Within charts, one can set the beginning date for any number of charts, assuring that the start date is the same over all instruments. Within a Market Analyzer window, one can only set the number of bars to an indicator. Any ideas of how to work around this problem within the Market Analyzer window?

    Thanks.

Tony, correct here it would be a lookback of bars - what tool are you using for the cycle analysis - a custom indicator study? Then you could code logic into it that would ignore OnBarUpdate() calls before a certain date.

Custom Indicator Determines Location of First Cycle

      Hello Bertrand:

Yes, the cycle is determined by a custom indicator. Once the starting bar location of the first cycle is determined, the cycle is repeated at set intervals throughout the remainder of the data. I understand that I can omit dates. However, the problem occurs when the location of the first cycle changes over time because of the daily update of bars. What is needed is a way to keep the starting cycle bar at the first location on a day-by-day basis. A starting day option in Market Analyzer would alleviate this problem.

      Thanks.

Future Consideration: Starting Date --AND-- Session Template

          Hello Bertrand:

A session template is also needed as confirmation that the data used in Market Analyzer window matches criteria established in custom code. The session template is a part of both Strategy Analyzer and Charts. A strategy can be tested over a specific data range and trading session in Strategy Analyzer. Please add both of these at the same time to Market Analyzer so that we can be assured that the data is "Synched" correctly.

          Thanks.
