    MACD signals in Market Analyzer

This question has probably already been answered, but I’ve browsed the forum and cannot find a recent thread that addresses this.

I’m trying to set an alert for the "diff" signal for the MACD indicator in the Market Analyzer (MA). I am able to modify a column in the MA, select the MACD indicator, ask it to plot the diff calculation, etc. But the value that it displays is far different from what is shown on the chart. As a matter of fact, all of the MACD signals have different values from what is shown on the chart.

In my case, I’m using NT7 (current ver.), using a 10-minute chart, using standard MACD default settings. I’ve tried to mirror those settings in the MA column for the alert, except that the “# of bars to look back is set to 50”. Finally, I’ve set it to plot the diff calculation.

Is there anything else I should be doing to make the numbers match?

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks for the note.

There are two things that need to match to get the data to match.

The number of days/data loaded in the chart vs the MA.

The session template of the chart vs the MA.

Please match these up then the values will then match.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      Hi Brett,

Thanks for the reply. I have adjusted the days loaded to match - 256 bars in this case. But I don't understand your comment about the session template. I do not see anywhere in the MACD settings that reference the session template. Do you mean chart time interval?

Indicators always run on the data series.

The data series then has a session template.

To set a session template. Right click on chart->data series-->session template.

Thanks for the quick reply. I finally got it. I had my session templates based on the instrument settings and had the instruments default to conflicting session templates. My bad.

It all works as it should.

          Thanks again!
