IB Login Failed

    IB Login Failed

    Hey all,

    Something weird happened this morning. Haven't changed anything to my usual setup (which worked fine Friday).

    I get this error when attempting to connect to IB:

    Login failed. IB.Adapter.StartTws: can't find registry key 'jtspath'

    Any ideas?

    Hello Phil,

    You likely have TWS 918 installed. You can check this at Help-->About TradersWorkStation. The same error has been reported by other customers when TWS 918 is installed. You will need to install TWS 917 as per the IB connection guide at the link below.


    You can install TWS 917 from the connection guide. Please let me know if the error persists after you installed TWS 917.

        Patch Release Required...

        Current IB TWS build revision is now 920.2. When are you going to upgrade NT to support it?

          Hello,

          We do not have an ETA on when the current build of TWS will be supported.

          When possible, we update the supported version of IB’s Traders Work Station at regular intervals with each new NinjaTrader release. Due to the number of releases IB has, we may be behind their current release, simply because we may not update our platform at the same time they do. It is also important to note that we can only begin testing new versions of TWS once those releases have been publicly made available, this also contributes to the time required to update the to the our supported version of TWS.

            Thanks for the prompt response.

            I have always used the IB web login as the desktop install never seems to work for me. Up until build 917 this worked fine, but they obviously made a breaking change in 918 as you are aware already.

              I have just upgraded to NT7 and am unable to establish a data connection to IB. I start IB workstation as I did in the past, then I start NT 7 and I am unable to establish a "market data connection" ? I keep getting the IB login screen popping up?

                Thank you for your post.


                What version of TWS are you using? You can check under TWS -> Help -> About -> Scroll to the Build #

                TWS 918 and up has an identified issue which does not allow NinjaTrader to connect.

                With the current version of NinjaTrader, it is critical that you use TWS version 917. Please uninstall your existing version via the Windows Control Panel, and then install 917 via the following link:
                http://www.ninjatrader.com/ninjatrader/TWS/tws40_install_917_8.exe

                Once TWS 917 has been installed, please ensure that the configuration in our Connection Guide for TWS has been completed.

                  Hello,
                  i've an identical problem. My trade today was executed in simulation mode but this mode isn't enabled in the control center. How could it be ? The log stated in sim101 mode ??

                    Can you check to see if you have SIM101 selected in your order entry window?

                    You can still place trades to the SIM101 account without Global Simulation Mode enabled.

                        Could you clarify, do you have a Stuck SIM order?

                        If so, please reset your Simulation Account.

                        Resetting a simulation account will clear all historical trade data from this account. Please follow the instructions below to reset a simulation account.
                        • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Options
                        • Select the "Simulator" tab
                        • Press the "Reset" button

                          Hello cameron,
                          did just a new test and the trade didn't pass IB. Still sim101.
                          I resetted the sim before of course.
                          So no way to trade in real.
