    Hi MichelN,

    Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately, IB releases updates to their TWS software more often than we're able to code for the updates. Due to that, you will see times where a prior release of TWS must be used.

That said, I'm not sure why TWS would force your connection to close as the error reports. I'd recommend following up with IB support on this connectivity issue.

I had the same issue but I also deleted the IB connection in NT. Then downgraded... worked that way.

          still no luck

deleted IB connection profiles, reinstalled old version of TWS (917). Created new connection profile (with different name). Still experiencing same issue.

            Hello foreverforex,

Please make sure that you have enabled the TWS API Configuration to allows a connection. This can be set in TWS by going to Configure--> API--> check "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients".

If you see further issues, can you please check the Log tab of the Control Center and tell us the exact error which is reported?

              log info

              Hi,

it doesn't give error, per se. It asks for sign on info, then verifies it, seems to load TWS, then asks for sign in info again. And keeps repeating.

Only thing it says in log is:

Connecting to NinjaTrader data server (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx/xxxxx)

didn't put server numbers in case that is sensitive info.

              Thanks,

              FF

                Hello FF,

Can you please double check if you have TWS 917 installed. Please go to Help-->About TradersWorkStation and check if it lists version 917.

Do you perhaps have 'Connect on startup' enabled as per the IB connection you created? If so, please disable this option. Go to Control Center-->Tools-->Account Connections, highlight your IB connection and click Change. Disable the option and finish the connection. Check if you can get connected.

Since 'Auto logon' is disabled, am I correct you have TWS up and running when you try to connect in NinjaTrader?

If the issue remains, could you please enable 'Auto logon'. Make sure TWS is closed and try to connect to IB in NinjaTrader. Check if TWS automatically opens and allows the connection to be established.

                  IB Logon

                  ***UPDATE***

I am now getting my forex data. don't know what Data I'm not getting according to this error message, but for time being, all I care about is Forex. So I'm up and running.

                  Thank you.

                  Hi Jason,

Thanks for all the replies. confirmed TWS 917. I had API settings correct, auto logon off, and connect on startup off.

I was not starting TWS prior to starting NT. Doing this allows it to make connection (no looping).

New issue: bottom left of control center is green and says "connected Interactive 1", but Log shows default error: "required market data is not subscribed. 345." and indeed I'm not getting market data.

However, on IB account management page, I do have subscriptions to forex markets and confirmed with IB customer service.

                  Next step???

                  Thanks,

                  FF

                    Hello FF,

Good to hear you can get connected and receive forex data.

You likely had an instrument selected somewhere in NinjaTrader which you are not authorized for with IB that caused the error message.

                      Hi Jason,

I'm (I think all other traders too) using still the TWS 917 version because of the "loop issue". Would like to ask you, if in the meantime the problem is solved on the Ninja site and we can all download the newest version of the TWS?

                      Thank you.

                      Jens

                        Hello Jens,

Unfortunately, you will still experience the issue with TWS 918. You will need to use TWS 917.

O.K. Jason, thanks for the reply. Would be great, if Ninja could give us a information as soon we can use the new TWS.

                          Kind regards

                          Jens

Unfortunately, there is no ETA if and when TWS 918 will be supported at this time.

Yep, made the mistake of upgrading to TWS 918 and got the same problem. WARNING: If you uninstall TWS 918 and reinstall TWS 917, you will wipe out all your TWS settings, presets, and will be presented with the default "new" layout. I don't have a clue how to get back my old TWS setup.

Just install TWS 917 over TWS 918, you'll be glad you did.
