Range charts: NT 6.5 vs 7

NT 6.5 allowed the user to define "Session begins (local time)" and "Session ends (local time)" to 12:00 A.M., which resulted in all range bars being equal in range. NT 7 no longer has that option--only allowing the user to select "ETH" or RTH" which results in some range bars that are truncated. This defeats using range charts in timing studies with NT 7.

    Hello wcandrews,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forums!

You can set your Session Template to "Default 24/7" which will set your session begin and end time to 12:00AM local time.

To retrieve 24/7 data on a chart, please follow the directions below.
    • Right click in your chart and select Data Series.
    • In the Data Series menu, set the "Session Template" property to "Default 24/7", then click OK.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

      Thanks for the prompt reply.
Can that "24/7" option be applied globally to all charts?

        Matthew:

That does not solve the problem. To see what I mean, set up an 8-tick range June, ZB (bonds) chart.
set to 24/7. You will find many examples of incomplete, truncated bars. NT 6.5 handled it correctly.

          Hello wcandrews,

Could you provide a specific example or two so that we may compare apples to apples?

Set up an 8-tick range chart of June ZB (bonds) with session set to 24/7. You'll see several examples of truncated, imcomplete bars--usually around 12:00 A.M. or the session close. NT 6.5 handled this perfectly.

            E. g., 4/20/11 22:48 Central Time.

              Hello wcandrews,

              This is expected behavior.

In NT V6.5, the range bars would continue through the next session, however these bars have been designed to reset for the new session in NT7.

I have forwarded this case to development for future consideration regarding how range bars are plotted. This suggestion will be tracked under ID #899.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
