    PriceAlert indicator error

When there is a gap in the last traded price that causes the last traded price to "jump" over the alert line, the alert does not sound. This is an error in the basic functionality of what the indicator is intended to do.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1) Insert the PriceAlert indicator on the chart and drag the alert line above the last traded price
    2) If the last traded price does not touch the alert price but instead goes beyond it, it does not make the alert sound

If you can suggest other indicators or workarounds which function correctly, I would like to hear them. Thank you.

    Hello JoshDance,

Unfortunately this is as expected, since there is no price update received for the price you setup the PriceAlert indicator. The PriceAlert will generate an alert when that specific price is reached.

I will forward your suggestion to have it generate the alert when prices are received that are above the price you entered when you experience a gap as per the price you entered.

I thought you might say that it works as expected. If that's the case, then the expectation of the people who designed it does not match that of actual traders (not you guys) who use it. No one would set a price alert and expect to not receive an alert when price trades TO or THROUGH it. Make it an option if you like, but your design is flawed from the perspective of an actual, real, user who wants reliability in this indicator.

It would be like setting an alert on a stove to alert you when the temperature reaches 350 degrees, and then find it that it didn't alert you because when it polled the temperature it was actually 351 degrees and it's not 360 degrees. Hopefully you see the simple, practical truth in what I'm saying.

As an aside, designs like this will not happen if the question is first asked, "what is the intent of this indicator?" or "how would one of our users want to use this?" The answer would be obvious if these questions were considered rather than approaching it from the standpoint of someone who's not going to actually use it.

Hi...am curious about the tracking system...how it works....when you have a tracking number of 852, does that mean there are 851 items to be attended to by NT before you get to 852 ??

          Thanks....

            Hello Alfred,

It indicates there have been 851 suggestions added before in our tracking system. It does not mean those 851 suggestions will be incorporated in the NinjaTrader software before we look at the 852nd suggestion.
