drawobjects getting deleted after 20 days

    Support,

I am on NT 7.0.1000.2,..and see in NT log, that draw objects are removed after 20 days. Anyway to change this or configure in NT7 so that it doesn't delete draw objects older than 20 days? I restarted NT and found most of my draw objects have been removed.

Also any way to change it to 90 days?

    Hello mmtrader

    Thank you for your post.

Have you already right-clicked on the drawing object & selected ‘Lock”?

      Chip/Support,

Do I need to right click on every draw object and lock it to the chart to prevent it from deletion after 20 days?

Anyway to change this or configure in NT7 so that it doesn't delete draw objects older than 20 days?

Also any way to change it to 90 days?

They are only deleted if they have not been visible on a chart for 20 or more days. If you make the draw object visible, the 20 day counter will restart. There is no supported way to change this 20 day threshold.

          Ray,

Didn't understand visible, you mean like say if the drawobject is a trendline and is not visible on the current chart, it gets deleted? Problem is when price travels down, the old trend line can be visible. And if its deleted, same work has to be done again to recreate the old trendline. Can you please address this limitation. I lost most of my annotations/trendlines and other drawobjects, and going through the pain of recreating them again.

Not sure why this limitation was introduced in NT7, would appreciate if you can please solve this problem. It would be a pain to a trader to loose historical trendlines/drawobjects. I think atleast there should be a user configurable option to turn off this limitation.

          Thanks

            Hello,

I will send this into development and have it added to our list of considerations for the next release of NinjaTrader. I will post again with a tracking number when I recieve one from development and confirm its on the list. Also, you need to make sure you scroll back in the chart every so often to when the drawing object was created to retrigger the timer.

            Thank you for posting.

If not visible on a chart for 20 days or more, its deleted. If you scroll back in a chart to make it visible, then the 20 day timer is reset to zero.

                Hi, Ray,

I must say that I like the idea of being able to turn off this timer. I would then be able to archive my individual workspaces. This way, my only option is to save it as a several jpgs, which is not a solution I am entirely happy with.

                Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback, Paladin. We are considering different handling here for a future version of NinjaTrader.

                    Ray/Support,

Is there any timer/configuration that has been introduced in recent ninja versions,..to increase the default 20 days? or any plan to introduce in future ninja releases?

                    Thanks

                      Hi mmtrader,

                      Thanks for your post.

There isn't a GUI interface which shows the timer, but NinjaTrader is tracking the last time the objects were last viewed in the background. So long as the object is viewed at least once every 20 days, it will continue to be displayed.

While there is not currently a way to increase the default number of days an object will be displayed, this is something which development is looking in to.

                        Kyle,

                        I second that request.

                        Thank you.

Thanks Kyle, look forward to that feature getting released. Right now, recreating draw objects from 20 days old is painful. Some way to configure the 20 days, would be helpful.

                          Thanks

                            Support,

Has there been any update in this regards, its been a year since the feature request. Its still a pain to re-analyse a chart and redraw the same draw object on an old chart.

mmtrader, there's unfortunately no update I can provide at this time, other than the suggestion being actively tracked in our product enhancement lists and development is aware of it. The workaround explained in this thread would be currently the best way to handle this scenario.

Thanks again for your feedback and support,
