    How do I ?...part 2

I have several computers, and I would like to take the Ninjatrader 7 settings, workspaces, templates, etc. that I've created on one computer and transfer them to Ninjatrader 7 on a different computer. I'm sure this is possible, but I don't know what steps to take. Please could somebody show me the steps?
    Thanks,
    Tasuki
p.s. one more thing---I can upgrade all my Ninjatraders to the same version, but some of my computers run Windows 7 and some run XP. Will there be any problems if I move settings and such from an XP to a Windows 7 computer, or the reverse? In other words, does NT 7 handle files differently between the two operating systems?

    Hello Tasuki,

    Thank you for your post.

For the first part of your post, see the following thread for instructions:

In response to the second part, NinjaTrader will perform the same so long at the operating systems are supported; XP & Windows 7 both qualify here.

      what the heck?

      Chip,
When I did the restore function, I saw (to my relief) both the workspaces I had created on computer #1 and also the workspaces that I had brought over from computer #2. That's great....oh boy, I'd better back up and explain better.
I have two computers running NT 7. Computer #1 had only two workspaces that I'd created. Computer #2 had 12 workspaces I'd created. I wanted to transfer the 12 workspaces from computer #2 to computer #1, so I backed up computer #2 and restored it to computer #1. Crystal clear?
My question is, does the restore function ever *replace* files, or does it just *add* files from one computer to another?
      Thanks,
      Tasuki

        Hello Tasuki,

Glad to hear the backup worked correctly.

The restore should not replace any existing files, but would add the additional files to the existing directory. The only reason a file might be replaced is if you had a workspace with the same name on Computer #1 and Computer #2. This would essentially 'update' the file on the PC you are restoring to.
