    Hello,

You can import the stocks in via the feature. Control Center->File->Utilities->Import Stock Symbol List.

Then you will start the strategies with the link I sent in the previous post.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      Okay that sounds good.

So scan the 8000 stocks, pick the ones I want, export them and import them, then apply one strategy to all of them for automation.

Another thing, recently I've experienced crashes when the MA-list approaches 8000 symbols. Ninjatrader usually crashes when it reaches 1GB of data loaded into the RAM (seen in Windows taskmanager). Is there any way to fix this?

I currently only have 4GB (only 2,99GB available in WinXP). Could this be the problem?

And a last question, is it possible to import historical data into the MA so I dont have to reload it from a server each time?

        Hello,

You are at the limitation of the .net framework and also threading with NinjaTrader with this many stocks Unfortunately. You would need to resuve the number of stocks in the MA list.

This is possible and in fact when you get data from the server it will not get historical data unless it decides it doesnt have the data it may need. Which is done by these rules staying out of these rules will not cause any data to load.

When does NinjaTrader load historical data?

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

So basically I can download daily historical data from for example January to close today.

and when i scan the market tomorrow after close, the historical data needed for indicators are already there, the only thing missing is todays data, so only that will be downloaded from the servers.

am i understanding it right? but is this valid in the MA? i thought this only applied to charting.

            Hello,

Well, if your missing data for today it will cause a reload of ALL historical data. So you want to stay out of the historical data load rules or else you will have to wait while all the historical data is redownloaded again.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Alright, so everything gets reloaded if just one day is missing. Fair enough if you have a good data feed.

BTW I think I may have a solution to the problem of having too many stocks in the list. I just apply filter conditions to some of the indicators and filter away the rows where indicator-values are irrelevant to my interest.

The question then of course is, does "hide" the row actually lessen the system resources required, or will the "hidden" row still be in taking system resources?

                Hello,

                Would still be taking resources.

                  I see.

I notice NT7 crashes around 1000-1300MB used RAM. I have 32bit windows, would upgrading to 64bit allow more RAM usage for NT7 without crashing?

Also why isn't all this data transferred from RAM to harddrive when the limit is hit? I thought that's what most applications do?

                    Hello,

This is a function of .net framework that Unfortunately I cannot comment on. It is a limitation of the .net framework which we run on.

Upgrading to .net 64 bit side does increase the ram limits and thus would help with this.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
