volume zones vs volume profile

Am i understanding the difference ?

The Vol Zone indictor plots volume at that price level. And even though it says it's meant to be used with historical data it looks like it updates in real time.

Volume profile just plots the number of trades at that price level. No volume data.

What am i missing ? It looks like the vol zone provides better info (historical and actual volume) and in real time.

Thank you for your post, and welcome to the forums.

The Volume Zones is designed to work with the historical data, and can update with historical and real-time data, but the Volume Profile is more accurate with real-time data.

Rather than using either or, you can apply the Volume Zones Indicator for the historical data, and Volume Profile for the real-time data applied to the same chart. More information at:

Thanks Ryan for the quick response. Seems to me that the Vol Zone could be designed to be as accurate in real time as the vol profile but what do i know. I'll try both as you suggest.
