6J price all wrong on chart and DOM

    'Morning,

I put up a yen futures chart this morning and, unlike my other CME FX futures, it's giving a very strange price range. Price shown in the attached snip is 0.012229, whereas it should have been about 1.2230.

I guess the instrument settings, which I have not touched for any of the CME FX futures, other than to choose ETH exchange settings, are askew ?

    Help, please.

    J.

jtrade, I'm not sure what you're comparing to here - the price range is correct and inline also with the CMEGroup official quotes. Are you perhaps comparing to EURJPY FX spot?

Hi, Bertrand - to clarify, my charts and DOM are showing prices starting with 0.01xxxx , ie.6 decimal places. CME & Tradestation are correctly showing prices starting with 1.2xxx , ie. 4 decimals.

I appreciate if the decimal on my Ninja platform is moved two places, the price shown on my chart above becomes 1.2229, but it should be displaying correctly !?

Here's another full image with the BB price markers turned on.& also a snip of my Instrument Manager, which I have not adjusted.

PS. As you can see, 6J is showing as 6 decimals, but is that because it's quoted in yen or is the default NT7 setting incorrect ?

pepzadep - currency futures just rolled, so the difference between contracts will be at its highest. May I please suggest you use Google to understand futures rollover and why the prices are different ?

The topic of this thread is different...

jtrade, this is what I see offically for the CME 6J contracts - http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/fx/g...es_globex.html - which would be the format you see on NT

pepazdep, you can read up on the different continuous contract data merging options available in NT here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...rical_data.htm

The difference between the expiries you see is expected for this investment product.

Thanks, Bertrand, but click on the chart icon to the left of the quote on that CME page and you'll see how it's supposed to chart. I've double checked both TradeStation and additionally Futuresource online, and they display the price the same way as CME (CME image attached).

I would agree this is very strange & do not understand it.... and now I've just checked Interactive Brokers, who chart it the 6 decimal way as in NT7.

              Confused !

jtrade, I feel we're just talking about a display preference here, but will open a ticket with the CME to clarify why this is done this way.

So it seems, Bertrand : the way I prefer is the way it's always been charted in the past & "fits" with the other CME FX Futures format. It is strange that CME show a 6 decimal quote. but a 4 decimal chart.

                  Thanks for helping.

                  J.

You're welcome - will report back here when I hear back from the CME.

                    Thanks,
