Can you please send me the database and Config.xml file from the machine that experiences the issue. Please go to Control Center-->Help-->Mail to support. Enable 'Database file' & 'Workspace files and UI settings' and put 'Attn Jason, 591223' in the subject header.

Solved it just by looking inside the files you wanted me to send and comparing to the laptop - turns out the 'International Tick Server' field in my esignal account connection manager dialog on the main machine was blank, so not a timing/bug issue, just the user keyboardist!
Interesting symptoms mind and something more useful than 'Error -104' would have helped.... but I take ny hat off to you guys yet again, big thanks for the help.
